New London has a number of special places worth visiting to view nature at its best. Some of the town properties, conservation easements, and trail easements provide access to these places. Trails are provided to visit these special places. The some of the trails in the Philbrick-Cricenti Bog, Esther Currier Wildlife Management Area at Low Plain, the Knights Hill Nature Park, and the Cook Property are self-guided nature trails; the trail in the Webb Forest Preserve is an interpretive trail describing forestry practices. Other trails provide opportunities to wander along spectacular streams (Cocoa's Path and the Dura Crockett, Great Brook, Lyons Brook, and Upper Cascade trails) or enjoy great views (the trails in Phillips Memorial Preserve, to Clark Lookout, and the Cook property). Wildflowers and wildlife can be seen from any of the trails.
